Redwing Shibas
1 (865) 458-6746
Pat has been involved in the sport of purebred dogs since 1977 when she got her first Akita.
After suffering a severe back injury that stopped her from being able to show Akitas, Pat switched to a tougher breed, the Shiba Inu. She showed Shibas in the rare breed shows until the Shiba was recognized by AKC. Pat owned and bred the first Westminster BOB winner, "Red Wings Justa Son of a Witch." Several years later his son, "Red Wings Empire Builder" also won at the club's show. Redwing Shibas has produced about 30 Shiba champions to date, some of whom have had extraordinary wins.
Pat's memberships have included The Akita Club of America and the Long Island Akita Club. She has also been a member of Mid Island Kennel Club, Queensboro K C, Westbury K C, Nassau/Suffolk Chapter of Owner Handlers Assoc., Owner Handlers Assoc., Heart of Dixie Stewards Club, the Southeastern Stewards Club, Tennessee Valley K C, Oak Ridge K C, Queens Obedience Club, Suffolk Obedience Training Club, the Stewards Club of America, Colonial Shiba Club, The Shiba Club of America and the National Shiba Club of America. In each of these clubs, she served in many official capacities.
Pat founded both the Smoky Mountain Chapter of the Owner Handlers Assoc. and the Shiba Club of Greater New York. She has served as President, VP, Treasurer and board member of most of these clubs. She has also put in time as Show Chair and almost any other position you can think of concerning a Point or match show. Pat has been credited as chair or member of numerous committees, and at age 74 she is still running around the rings.
