The Shiba Club of Greater New York
Welcome to the Shiba Club of Greater New York. Our Club welcomes new members and Shiba Fanciers. We are small but support each other in our endeavors to make the Club work and serve as a resource for the public as well as support of fellow Shiba owners. Our purpose is to protect the Shiba and to work together to highlight the breed and all of its attributes as well as downfalls in our education to the public and for our love of the breed. We strive to inform Shiba owners of resources for our breed to the best of our ability to not only highlight the Shiba in the Conformation or Performance ring, but to love and understand them as companions.
Although we are small in number and are regionally separated by miles, we are a thriving breed club and conduct meetings via e-mail and at show sites. We support the Shiba entry at the Non-Sporting Group Show held in New Jersey in the summer.
Westminster's Oldest Dog
At almost 13 years old, a Shiba Inu, Ch. Taichung Koro Niji (call name Mr. Miyagi), was the oldest dog competing in Westminster this year. Congratulations to Mr. Miyagi and his owner/handler Alyssa Goldman (a member of the Shiba Club of Greater New York). For more info and a photo of Mr. Miyagi, see this DogChannel.com article about the oldest and youngest dogs at Westminster this year.
